Iowa DNR’s New Online Hunting & Fishing Licensing System is Now Live & Making it Effortless to Get Outdoors
As Iowa’s hunters, anglers and bird watchers go to purchase their licenses and permits or register their recreational vehicles, users will be greeted with a new, streamlined, easy to use and convenient online licensing and registration system. The system launched earlier this year in February and is making it easier than ever to purchase licenses, apply for quota hunts, report harvests, and so much more.
“The goal of this new online licensing system for Iowa is to better serve its customers, increase Department revenues and engage new customers in outdoor participation,” says, Richard Wise, President of Brandt. “We are not only fulfilling these goals, but rolling out other innovative and convenient ways to get their residents and visitors outdoors, doing what they love.”
In addition to the web-based online licensing platform, users also have the ability to purchase and access their hunting and fishing licenses by downloading the new Go Outdoors Iowa mobile app right from the Itunes App Store or Google Play Store. The app allows users to have the licensing system conveniently right in their pockets, accessible anywhere, anytime. Customers can access their licenses/permits, view hunting or fishing regulations, view current sunset/sunrise times, and report harvests.
For those who prefer a tangible license rather than electronic versions, customers can now also upgrade to a durable, stylish hard card license or registration that can withstand the harsh outdoor conditions. These collectible cards are printed with artwork created by a local Iowa artist, Bruce Gordon, and feature large mouth bass or pheasant designs.

My initial reaction is that it appears to be a huge upgrade for our state’s licensing system.
